Government of The Gambia joins IATI as a member

IATI is delighted to welcome the government of The Gambia as the 106th member of the International Aid Transparency Initiative. By joining IATI, the government of The Gambia is signalling its commitment to promoting transparency and strengthening effective use of development and humanitarian resources.

As a member of IATI, The Gambia joins a global community of governments, multilateral, civil society and private sector organisations committed to IATI’s mission of using open data to create more informed and effective outcomes in development and humanitarian assistance.

“Transparency is essential for achieving sustainable development” said Mariama Saine, Principal Economist and Head of the Directorate of Aid Coordination, representing the government of The Gambia. “By joining IATI, our government is reinforcing this country’s commitment to ensuring that development resources are used effectively and transparently. We look forward to working with the IATI community to ensure that development resources are used effectively and efficiently to improve lives”.

Welcoming the announcement, IATI’s Executive Director, Yemescrach Workie, said “We are delighted to have The Gambia join our growing network of members dedicated to fostering transparency and driving sustainable development worldwide. We look forward to working with The Gambia as they take an active role in shaping the future of development and humanitarian assistance, and maximise the impact of development and humanitarian resources”.
